The celebrations for the centenary
of Giuseppe
Verdi's death have been the main event for the
year 2001, they consisted of a rich theatrical
season
all
over
the region for the lovers of concerts, operas, plays
and ballets.
Not only The Verdi Theatre in Busseto, the Regio
and the Stabile Theatres in Parma played a leading
role in this special musical season, but also other
Theatres: the Municipal
Theatre of Bologna, Ferrara, Modena, Piacenza,
the Alighieri Theatre in Ravenna and the Valli Theatre
in
Reggio Emilia, just to mention some of them.
The places where Verdi had lived and worked have been
object of careful restorations, in order to preserve
the atmosphere of that time.
This is the land of other great musicians like Toscanini
and the contemporary Pavarotti, famous conductors like
Muti (Ravenna) and Abbado
(Ferrara), movie directors like Fellini and Bertolucci,
artists like Morandi and Guido Reni and writers like
Umberto Eco.
