Only 20 kilometres of the Via Emilia
separate the cities of Forlì
and Cesena.
The historic centre of Forlì maintained its Medieval
and Renaissance aspect: Palazzo Gaddi, the San Mercuriale
Abbey and the Castle of Caterina Sforza (1500), are
only some examples.
Cesena is famous for
the Malatesta Library where hundreds of ornately decorated
manuscripts are perfectly conserved. Overlooking the
city is the Madonna del Monte Abbey, where Benedictine
monks still patiently restore ancient manuscripts and
books.
