Appennines

The Apennines draw the internal line of the region
in a strategic position between the Adriatic and
Tirrenic seas; from Piacenza to Rimini these mountains
are reachable in less than one hour from all the
cities.
The "High Lands" of Emilia-Romagna, are
extremely heterogeneous and very suggestive: from
sweet and green hills to calcareous crags, from
chestnut-trees forests to the highest summits to
practise climbing and skiing . |
The landscape is enriched with the presence of small villages,
rural houses and mills. This territory has deeply rooted
traditions and popular customs which are celebrated in
the different seasons with festivals and feasts.
From Spring to Autumn the Apennines are ideal for sport
activities, rural stays and walking trails, gastronomic
excursions hunting for chestnuts or mushrooms; in winter
the white mountains and the ski resorts are very popular
and contributed to grow ski champions as Alberto Tomba.

Parks

The National and Regional represent
the "green heart" of Emilia Romagna and
testify the importance attributed to the protection
and the exploitation of naturalistic beauties and
landscapes.
Park of the Casentinesi Woods, Park of the Gigante,
Park of the Corno alle Scale and the Delta of
the river Po Park are the principal green oasis
to be explored while horse-riding, walking, biking
or skiing.

The Delta of the river Po Park is probably the most peculiar
with its wetlands, unique in Italy. In the valleys ploughed
by strips of land guarded by rural houses (the "casoni"),
the visitor can enter the magical atmosphere of the Delta
made of canes and swamps, of beaches and dunes which provides
the ideal habitat for rare species of birds. It's possible
to discover the area following the many routes walking,
horse-riding, biking or floating with typical boats along
the river Po. |

Cycling
& Mountain Bike
Emilia-Romagna offers a wide variety of
opportunities for cyclists. Every year a growing number
of cyclists from all Europe decide to visit Emilia-Romagna,
where they can ride in great comfort and tranquillity,
in the plains, in the valleys and the hills or along the
ridge of the Apennines. Mild climate, amazing "mixed"
routes, great number of facilities provided, many hotels
open the whole year, excellent tradition of fine food
and drink and special menus offered for cyclists are the
attractive factors of the region for those who enjoy this
sport. |

Golf

The golf courses spread throughout
Emilia-Romagna are 27: 12 eighteen-holes courses,
7 nine-holes courses, the others with less than
nine holes. They offer a wide variety of grounds:
some are surrounded by the woods of the Pianura
Padana, some are located on the hills next to the
Apennines, others are located on the Adriatic Coast
close to the beach; but all of them have a high
standard of quality and provide excellent facilities. |
One of the characteristics of the
Emilia Romagna circuit is the "green fee",
a card that allows entering all the regional structures.

all the courses of the region. |

Farm
holidays
The terms "farm holidays" and
"agritourism" indicate all those activities
that can be joined in rural areas, usual inside an agricultural
factory. Therefore there are many opportunities: from
restoration to accommodation, from camping to the sale
of products, from horse-riding to mountain-biking.
In the silence and the green of the "agritourism"
factories and the rural houses of Emilia Romagna, you
will be able to taste the genuine products of the land,
such as fresh milk and home-made marmalade; with the warmth
and the hospitality of the country people as "dressing". |
